Wineries in Alabama

Alabama has no federally established American Viticultural Area (AVA). The wineries are spread out: some in the southern foothills of the Appalachians in the north, others near Birmingham and in the middle of the state, and more toward the coast in the south. Many make muscadine wine, from a grape native to America, and some also make fruit wines such as peach and blackberry. European (Vitis vinifera) grapes are not the preferred choice here because they are susceptible to Pierce's disease. North Alabama's tourism association says its wineries are near enough to one another to visit several in a day. Plan a designated driver or a rideshare for each tasting day.

Cruv groups places by wine region where a state has established ones, and Alabama has none in its list yet. Open the app to see every place Cruv lists here on the map, with what is open now and upcoming events.
