Know before you go

Reservations
Call ahead to confirm a tasting room's hours and ask whether it takes reservations, as the Verde Valley Wine Trail itself advises.
Getting there
From Phoenix it's roughly two hours by car, about 100 miles: Interstate 17 north, then Highway 260 west through Camp Verde and Cottonwood. Highway 89A continues into Sedona.
Best time to visit
Many visitors drive up from Phoenix for the cooler weather, though days are still warm. Day-to-night swings of 30°F or more are common, so bring a layer for evenings.
Getting around
Wineries and tasting rooms are spread around Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Clarkdale, Cornville, Jerome and Sedona, so plan on driving between stops. Plan a designated driver or book a wine tour.

Local event listings mention wine festivals, street festivals with wine tasting, harvest celebrations, fundraiser wine dinners with auctions, and art walks with wine tasting.
