Getting there
Roseburg is on Interstate 5, about three hours south of Portland, an hour south of Eugene and two hours north of Ashland. You can fly into Eugene or Medford.
Best time to visit
Mild for much of the year, so most seasons work. In Elkton, an afternoon river breeze cools the growing season, so bring a layer.
Getting around
Towns are a drive apart: Oakland, just off Interstate 5, is about 30 minutes from Elkton via Highway 138. Leave the driving to a designated driver, a rideshare or a tour.
Labor Day and Thanksgiving weekends bring events at wineries across the valley.
