Wineries in South Dakota

South Dakota has no federally designated American Viticultural Area (AVA). Travel South Dakota's winery tour covers the east and the Black Hills. In the east, a route follows the Interstate 29 corridor north from Vermillion to Rosholt in the state's northeast, with other wineries near Brandon and Volga. In the west, the Black Hills have wineries in and around Rapid City, Sturgis, Deadwood and Hill City. Cold-hardy grapes such as Marquette and Brianna do well here, and winemakers also work with regional fruit. Plan a designated driver, a rideshare or a tour for each tasting day.

Cruv groups places by wine region where a state has established ones, and South Dakota has none in its list yet. Open the app to see every place Cruv lists here on the map, with what is open now and upcoming events.
