Getting there

Wineries begin in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and run north to the Red River, the Oklahoma line. Interstate 35 reaches Gainesville, about seven miles from Oklahoma, and U.S. 75 reaches Denison.

Best time to visit

The North Texas Winery Association lists budbreak in March and April and harvest in August. A fall wine trail adds tastings at participating wineries across the region.

Getting around

The association groups wineries into day-trip routes by area, and the Texoma AVA alone covers about 3,650 square miles, so pick one route per day. Plan a designated driver.
