Know before you go

Reservations and fees
Some wineries recommend or require reservations, and some limit group size. Buses and limos should reserve: not every tasting room takes them, and some may add a coach fee.
Getting there
Long Island Rail Road plus a rideshare reaches some North Fork wineries. MacArthur Airport is in the middle of Long Island, with JFK and LaGuardia in Queens for more service.
Best time to visit
Fall is a popular time to visit, with harvest running late August to mid-October. Winter is quieter, and spring and summer suit outdoor tastings.
Getting around
Many North Fork wineries sit close together, so several stops fit in one day, and ferries link the North and South Forks. Plan a designated driver, a rideshare or a tour.

Wineries list live music, hands-on harvest days, blending sessions and seasonal parties.
