Know before you go

Reservations
Wineries on the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail set their own reservation and group policies, so check each winery's website before you go.
Tasting fees
Tastings are priced per person and include several pours. Fees vary, so confirm current prices with the winery you plan to visit.
Getting there
From downtown Chicago, take Interstate 94 about 90 minutes to the Harbor Country towns around New Buffalo. Amtrak stops in New Buffalo; the South Shore Line reaches Michigan City, Indiana, about 10 minutes south.
Best time to visit
The wine trail is open in all four seasons. Summer brings live music and food truck nights, many of them on weekends.
Getting around
Wineries sit along the lakeshore and inland toward Kalamazoo, so pick one area a day. Rideshare is limited in parts of Harbor Country: plan a designated driver or book a ride ahead.

Events here include live music, food truck nights, wine dinners, barrel tastings, paint-and-sip classes, winemaking classes and festivals.
